Why does my SSD have high total link: NAND (Not AND) writes as opposed to total Host writes

Summary

 

Write amplification (WA) is an undesirable phenomenon associated with Flash Memory and Solid-State Drives (SSDs) where the actual amount of information physically written to the storage media is a multiple of the logical amount intended to be written. This has been observed on the Intel® SSDs. 

 

Here's how to fix write amplification on Solidigm™ (formerly Intel®) 535, Intel 530 and Pro 2500 SSDs:

  1. Install the WAF (Write amplification Factor) fix firmware. You can find the update: here
  2. If the issue persists, perform a secure erase on the drive. Check this link for tools on performing a secure erase/low-level format
